I guess Salomon is the magic word this week.
Last weekend we had the Salomon big rig roll on through Tahoe City and, in conjunction with Big Blue Adventure‘s Burton Creek Trail Run, were nice enough to let folks demo their shoes and gave us a glimpse of the upcoming Salomon 2012 trail shoes. As mentioned in an earlier post here’s a little closer look at some up and coming (and one currently available) shoes from Salomon’s ever popular trail running line up.
First off we’ve got the Salomon XR Mission. It is a spring 2012 style modeled after the immensely successful Crossmax construction. Completely neutral, it looks to be somewhat of a lighter-weight version of the Crossmax, more racing flat style. Both men’s and women’s will be available.
In comes the Salomon Speedcross 3, yes an updated version of the aggressive soled Speedcross 2. Alpenglow is the only shop in North America with the Speedcross 3 right now, which is sick! The Speedcross 3 has arrived for fall 2011 with more cushion on the inside of the shoe and a bit wider than it’s predecessor (which was very narrow in comparison to the rest of the Salomon line up) but the biggest difference is the change to a neutral midsole.
In a similar category as the Speedcross comes the 2012 Salomon Fell Cross, which has a softer rubber on the outsole for extremely muddy or wet conditions. The Speedcross, in comparison, has a denser rubber outsole for more all around conditions, or just a rugged sole for race day.
Now that you’re all psyched for trail running lace up those shoes and get out there! Looking to challenge yourself against the clock or other trail runners? Check out Big Blue Adventure’s 2011 Trail Run Series here in Tahoe. A ton of fun events right here on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
