A few running events going on this weekend:
First off in Tahoe City, The Burton Creek Trail Run. However the day before while picking up your race info check out the Salomon Trail Running Demo at Alpenglow Sports:
On Saturday June 18th at Alpenglow Sports there will be a Salomon Tech Rep in attendance during Packet Pickup from 2- 6pm (for the Burton Creek Trail Run). Come and try on Salomon’s new XR Crossmax trail running shoe. The XR Crossmax was the winner of the Best Debut in the Spring 2011 Runners World. You will also be able to enter to win some sweet Salomon Swag! Click here to learn more about the Salomon XR Crossmax.
from Big Blue Adventure, The Burton Creek Trail Run:
The Burton Creek Trail Run takes place on a beautiful, fun and challenging trail system within Burton Creek State Park in Tahoe City, CA. The course features miles of single track through pine forests and high sierra meadows. Burton Creek drains the runoff from Mt. Watson into Lake Tahoe. You’ll see and hear the creek often and June is a great wildflower time of year as well.
SNOW REPORT: The race is still scheduled even with the later than normal snow fall. There maybe some snow on the ground, but it is melting quickly and we don’t anticipate it affecting the ability to race on the course. We will let you know if this changes.
The Burton Creek Trail runs goes down on Sunday June 19th. Distance options include 5KM, 10KM, Half Marathon, and Marathon. Race start at 9AM. On site registration IS available. I like the “still scheduled even with the later snowfall” portion above. More info on Big Blue Adventure’s website.
One for all of you in the South Lake area; The Legendary Run in South Lake Tahoe goes off on Saturday June 18th, all the info here. Looks like pre-registration ends Friday afternoon otherwise you can sign up the morning of.
5K/10K A mix of flat and gentle hill road and single track trail running along Al Tahoe Blvd and through forest and meadow starting at the LTCC parking area and finishing near the re-building of the historic track was that used during the 1968 Olympic Track & Field Trials located at South Tahoe Middle School. The track was resufraced 2007. There is a 1 mile (approximately) pavement only wheelchair or stroller fun race and a on the track kids only race.
Have a great weekend!
