People who like to ski are in heaven right now in Lake Tahoe. I know normally the Nordic folks are worrying about skiing over pine cones , dirt spots, and waxing with a bit of moly! While Tahoe XC is frantically farming snow like crazy with the snow cats in order to keep the trails going as long as possible. Due to the killer winter we’ve had here Tahoe XC is planning on being open until May1st!
So keep those bikes inside for the weekend and take advantage of one of the last few weekends of ski racing!
On Saturday April 9th get out your striding skis and check out Tom’s Race at Bear Valley Cross- Country. The 10km diagonal stride only race begins at 10am. More info HERE. Click the logos for wax recommendations (as of Friday AM Toko didn’t have one posted).
SKATE SKIERS, SNOWSHOERS, RUNNERS, CLASSIC SKIERS, TELEMARK SKIERS, AT SKIERS, SPLITBOARDERS, ETC……
If Saturday is too soon or if you prefer to truck uphill for 3.2 miles and “run what you brung” for your race transport check out the Billy Dutton Uphill on Sunday April 10th. A fundraiser for the Far West Nordic junior ski program is a 3.2 mile ski/run/snowshoe up Squaw Valley starting at base of KT-22. The course takes you up the Mountain Run, then over to the top of Shirley Lake and finally ends after a short downhill at High Camp for a total of 2000 vertical feet.
