It’s nearly time for the third presentation in our annual Winter Film Series! Please join Marmot athlete Adrian Ballinger for his wonderful story of Ama Dablam on January 27, 2011 7pm at the Sawtooth Ridge Cafe.
Ama Dablam (22,349 ft), the “Matterhorn” of the Himalaya, is the most popular expedition peak in the Himalaya. But all this climbing perfection has also brought overcrowding, decades of leftover fixed rope, too-frequent accidents, and heinous human waste issues.
Adrian has been lucky enough to climb and guide Ama Dablam 8 times in the past decade, from alpine hopeful soloing the peak, to the mountain’s most experienced Western guide. In 2010, he was the leader of a major clean-up project on the mountain. Join Adrian for a night of stories and photos from a decade on Ama Dablam, and more importantly a look at climbers’ responsibilities in the Hiamalaya today.
Don’t miss this great show! Show starts at 7pm, at the Sawtooth Ridge Cafe, in Tahoe City. The cafe will offer an earlybird dinner special starting at 5:30PM. Please call 583-2880 for reservations.
This is a FREE event and everyone is welcomed. Awesome raffle to follow show with all proceeds to benefit High Fives Foundation. Come early for good seating.
